Earlier this week we celebrated American Independence Day with a themed Sunday BBQ to help to raise money for the Barby Keel Animal Sanctuary. We had over 75 people and four dogs attended the hugely successful event. Residents, friends, families and staff took part in various contests and activities including wellie throwing, pin the tail on the donkey, guess the number of sweets, and a raffle. Everyone enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra and Johnny Cash classics performed by Doug from Bexhill based Inferno Disco.
The event helped to raise £265.90 for the well-known local animal sanctuary; Barby Keel Animal Sanctuary which helps with the ongoing care and treatment of those animals found neglected.
The BBQ had a lovely community feel, and the residents love animals so we thought it would be a great idea to donate and support the animal charity. Barby Keel has invited us to the animal sanctuary where we’ll official present the funds we raised to Barby; we’re very much looking forward to that.
